Holliday Lake State Park

We took Penny camping for the first time. On Sunday we went to Holliday Lake and met my parents and Taylor and Jennifer for lunch. Chuck, Penny, Nixon and I stayed the night in our new tent!

We played on the playground some and walked Nixon all over the place. Taylor and Jennifer were happy to see Nixon and wore him out. Chuck and my dad fished a little, but nothing was biting.

After my parents and sisters left, we built a fire and I cooked dinner. Penny played in the gravel and had some mud pies. We woke up Monday and headed home after cooking waffles for breakfast. Chuck was ready to do some work in our yard. We had fun and we are planning another trip next month to Pocahontas State Park!

6 Months!

Today Penny is 6 months old. I can't believe how big she has gotten! This month she has learned how to get up on all fours, sit up on her own, and blow raspberries. She also got her front two bottom teeth. We tried some solids, avocado and banana, on Friday. She wasn't super interested, but she can keep tasting til she gets the hang of it. We also have made it 6 months breastfeeding! That is something to be proud of to me :) We went to Babies R Us and did a little shopping today and came home and took some pictures in the yard. She is wearing the dress her Papa bought her the day we found out she was going to be a girl :)

Spring and Emilee's Visit

Emilee has been here since Wednesday, visiting on her Spring Break. We have done some shopping and have spend a lot of time outside in this gorgeous weather! These are some pictures she has taken since she has been here. The one on the bottom is one of the professional pictures we had done for Easter at JCPenney's. I don't know why I can't get it bigger, but it is so cute! I will pick up all of them next Friday hopefully. Emilee has two more days here and we have some fun stuff planned for the weekend, I'm sure I will be posting more pictures soon!

Training Nixon

Nixon has been HORRIBLE about house training. Or really I guess I should say I have been horrible about it. But today I feel like we made a little progress. No pee on the floor all day! Poop is still a different story, but we are getting there.

Today, I started by setting the timer for an hour each time he goes out. That way he gets out often enough and he has even started going to the back door every time the timer goes off! YAY!! As soon as he goes, he runs to me for a treat now...so cute.

Also, we are training him to 'come'. Chuck has a dog whistle and every time one of us blows it he comes running and gets a treat. He is doing great and will come even if he is busy chasing the cat (who hates him, lol) or looking at the goats. I have dreamed of having a dog that will listen and it seems like it might be coming true! I am crossing my fingers :D I want one of those dogs you see on the beach playing or walking with it's owner off a leash. We need to work on some cool tricks too!!

Babywearing and Farming!

Today was beautiful out, so Penny and I decided to do a little bit of work outside. We got out our baby hawk mei tai and I strapped her onto my back. I don't know what I would do without my wraps!! We can get so much done together, and Penny is happiest when she is in her carrier.

The ducklings are messy and love to play in the water so their pen needs to be cleaned often. They enjoyed a little bit of time in the yard while I hosed out their tub and refilled their food and water. We put their old bedding in the compost bin and took out some table scraps too. Chuck has a lamb that he will eventually slaughter for meat and he needed a bottle. He has to eat three times a day so we have to spend some extra time with him while Chuck is working. We have moved the chickens into the goat's pen and they are loving all the extra space and the chance to eat bugs and weeds. We went down there and enjoyed watching them for awhile. We also spent a little time walking Nixon.

Eventually we moved inside and got the laundry done and did a little cleaning. Not as much fun as being with the animals, but it had to be done. With all the windows open and the breeze blowing, cleaning is not quite as bad. Penny was either sleeping or watching quietly the whole time! We love babywearing!

Bear Creek Lake

We found a park about 30-40 min from us in Cumberland, VA and took Penny and Nixon for the afternoon on Wednesday. Chuck took his fishing pole and we walked around some and tried out the swings.

We ended up going to get Penny her own swing the next day. She's a little too small, but she likes it!
